This bird looks enormous and they have stubby wings. If you thought that all birds fly then you will find this bird very strange. Ostriches are one of the few bird species that cannot fly, which also includes penguins, emus, rheas, kiwis, and the extinct dodo. It’s a shame that they can’t fly; flying looks like it must be fun.
Birds That Can’t Fly
March 25th, 2009Craftman’s Cupboard In Kidapawan
March 22nd, 2009This family-owned furniture shop in Kidapawan has been in business for many many years. It continues to grow bigger and bigger with its good quality products from germilina wood, a type of hardwood in the Philippines, which is a very popular wood that many craftsmen are using to make furniture.
Some examples of the handmade cupboards are shown here below. The prices start at P6,500. Do you think it’s expensive? I think it’s pretty reasonably priced and nicely done.
Kalasuyan Gravel And Dirt Road
March 16th, 2009In the recent years, Kalasuyan, a barangay of Kidapawan, has been trying to improve the small dirt roads, just like what you can see in this rugged terrain. Unfortunately, it always take time for everything to get done, and also the finance is always a big concern when planning to build roads. This is especially true out in the countryside where most people who live there don’t pay tax.. Hopefully, the barangay will keep improving itself.
Delima Subdivision
March 14th, 2009Just outside Kidapawan City centre, lies this area of land for sale, which is probably a good long term investment for property development. I think that this place is really nice as it’s not very close to the main road. Building a house here would be superb as the scenery looks excellent as well. I would be very happy if I had the chance to live in the countryside like this, where it’s peaceful and quiet.
Sunrise In Sandawa
March 11th, 2009This picture was taken very early morning in Sandawa, looking over the foothills towards the summit of Mt. Apo, the highest point in the Philippines.
A Painting Of Crocodile In A Rock
March 8th, 2009The park and garden popular to locals between Kidapawan and Saguing, has been beautifully landscaped, including added features like a rock painting that makes it look like there is a crocodile inside it. It’s popular with visitors, especially the children, as they think it’s quite amusing.
Decorative Street Lights
March 4th, 2009The City of Kidapawan is looking good, apart from the exposed electric cables above. The streets in many areas have been improved. Like here, you can see that the pavement is stylish; it looks like cobblestones. There are also large plant pots along the main roads which I think are beautiful. This is what happens when everybody who is working pays tax. The money that is being paid is very useful for making improvements like putting up these decorative street lights as well.
Archdiocese Of Cotabato On YouTube
March 2nd, 2009YouTube is one of the most popular websites on the internet for playing videos. People around the world watch short films or any recorded video. Music is particularly popular. One interesting video that I found on YouTube is all about Cotabato City and its people. Here you can see Archbishop Orlando Quevedo, talking to the media.
Being able to access this video through the internet, is a brilliant idea. The thought of seeing him on this episode, especially to those who know him, will make people very happy, including me. I was overjoyed when I first saw him on YouTube as I haven’t seen him in a very long time.
Animal Statues on Display During City Meet
February 26th, 2009What happened few weeks ago, was a celebration of the Kidapawan City Meet. Local schools were also invited to get involved and meet up at the city hall. Soon after that there was a parade all the way through the city centre.
There were also extra attractions like a market with lots of things to buy, which is always interesting. I think that a lot of people appreciated how all these amazing pieces of furniture had been beautifully handmade from reclaimed wood. Like these animals, if you look at them closely, they look like they’re real as all the small pieces of wood have been precisely put together. They look fantastic.
Furniture From Reclaimed Wood
February 24th, 2009A few weeks ago, during the big celebration of Kidapawan City Meet, there was also an event where locals from various towns were allowed to display and sell their products. Loads of solid molave hardwood, which were artistically made into furniture from reclaimed wood, were one of the attractions to look at, just along the main street of the city in Quezon Boulevard. I think that these skillfully and beautifully handmade products are perfect for a patio or garden.
