Heavy rainfall often cause floods, which can be violent and very powerful and easily destroy properties. This fridge is being swept away from the house of the family who run a small restaurant near Datu Ingkal Bridge, Kidapawan. Sometimes life is not so easy.

In the past months Kidapawan has been hit hard by floods and this caused severe devastation in various areas. One particular scene that was badly affected is this creek near the bridge. To see this large amount of water raging beyond control was extremely worrying especially for local residents, who do not have the power to prevent this calamity.

How can we solve this problem to make sure that Kidapawan’s houses will not be flooded again? It’s unpredictable and when the weather is bad it could happen again.

Flood Ravaged Datu Ingkal Bridge

Monday, January 5th, 2009

In recent months various parts of Kidapawan have been ravaged by heavy rain that caused small river banks to burst. One contributing factor is too much deforestation, which means that there is nothing to prevent the ground from being just washed away, so the water just flows causing heavy floods. It’s too difficult to imagine what else we can do to help so people don’t suffer from the same thing happening again and again.

Kidapawan Cathedral Courtyard

This is the area just outside the Kidapawan cathedral where people can park their cars while attending mass. On Sundays it can be really busy up here as the cathedral has several masses from first mass to third mass at noontime. The fourth mass is in the late afternoon and there are more church goers attending so parking here can be a lot fun as it’s on a first come per served basis.

This view of Mt. Apo was captured early in the morning from Sandawa, Kidapawan. What I really love is the way that the bright glow of the sunrise creates shadows of the rolling hills around this dormant volcano. This picture was taken by Nestor Villaver.

Jaylon Dental Clinic

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

Going go to the dentist is important but not an easy thought as some people have bad experiences with a dentist. Going for a regular check-up will make sure that any problems with your teeth are identified in time to be treated. Unfortunately, many people don’t pay attention to their personal hygiene including their teeth. A thorough check-up every six months is recommended.

Not long ago, I had my teeth treated at Dr Jaylon’s clinic. I remember booking my appointment on that day, and Dr. Jaylon asked me when do I want it. I was really surprised when he said he could treat me the next day. I didn’t expect that as I thought that I would have to wait for few days instead. I had a couple of fillings for P300 each.

If you need some fillings ask for white composite as it looks nicer than mercury amalgam and some people say that it is safer.

What I really liked about the clinic was the very quick and friendly service. It’s also not very expensive. Overall, it’s amazing.

Grand Ficus Plaza Hotel & Restaurant In Kidapawan

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

Have you been to this hotel? It has been a year since I first saw their website. They have some interesting pictures of various parts of the building and it looks really nice. Reading good reviews about this hotel as its comfortable place to stay whilst in Kidapawan is convincing.

I hope that they keep updating their website and adding more details as it is a very effective way of getting more visitors.

I think the hotel is located in a very desirable area. It seems really good for the family as well with the beautifully landscaped garden and play area. Well done.

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

I have been searching information about schools and colleges in Kidapawan. I recently found the website of Central Mindanao Colleges in Kidapawan, which has told me a lot more about it. I’m not sure how many websites related to Kidapawan there are but I will keep looking.

People are becoming increasingly dependent on the world wide web so it is important for companies and institutions to maintain their websites. This provides access to people from around the world.
