One afternoon, I was surprised to see on my Facebook wall that someone from the Kidapawan Tourism Office invited me to like a page. I was curious, so I checked and saw loads of pictures and dates of events, which were quite recent. Soon after that, I started reading the news updates, from top to bottom, which I think are very interesting as they include useful information such as climbing Mount Apo and local events.

Here, I have written down important details for anyone who wishes to know more about climbing Mt. Apo. Anyone interested can apply and register themselves. I also learned that orientation and training sessions are organised, which I think is a very good idea. It gives them more knowledge and awareness to be prepared before trekking.

As far as I have read, these organised events also mentioned official and accredited mountain guides, which I am sure would be useful for both foreigners and locals. That would actually help them have correct directions along the trail and make their trip much easier, However, before anyone thinks that hiking up Mt. Apo is a walk in the park, even with a guide things can happen that cannot be avoided such as unexpected bad weather that sometimes can occur. Fortunately, there are very few incidents but you must always be careful.

What I would like to suggest is that if you have any plans to climb Mt. Apo, the best thing to do is go to Google and search. It's very easy, just type the keywords such as "Kidapawan tourism" and click "enter" then you will see various links. In order to make sure that you are getting correct information; scroll down and choose which one and which you think it matches what you are looking for.

Writing this blog is my one way of helping to promote what we have in Mindanao like the famous Mt. Apo. The Kidapawan Tourism Office Facebook page is very inviting. I really hope that these ideas of mine can help. I just like the thought that more and more guests and tourists will be coming over, visiting and seeing our natural beauty spots, like Lake Agco, which is very popular with the locals. I love that place. I was there last year with my son, it was really nice experience.

I really do believe that the tourism officials are doing their best. I can see that they keep adding new updates of activities with pictures of them, on what's going on ahead of time. A long time ago, we did not have anything like this in Kidapawan. I am so glad that our city has improved. Business is booming. Fingers crossed.

Drying The Rice

This is how a farmer in Mindanao dries the rice in the sun before taking it to the milling station for processing.

Since we were there for few hours, we managed to wander around the beautiful countryside, although I can't show it here, but I have taken loads of photos that I will post them on my next blog.

I was visiting a long time friend with my son in New Cebu, a barangay of Pres. Roxas. Travelling along the road to a small town was fun as Kidapawan is much busier. The scenery on the way to New Cebu is really green and worth seeing.

As I grew up in a small village, I always have a nice feeling that reminds me how much I love being in the countryside. It's my world.

Lake Agco Hills

The area around Lake Agco is very popular with the locals of Kidapawan. This is especially true during Easter. Lake Agco, or Lake Agko, is in the foothills of Mount Apo, not far from Kidapawan. All around Lake Agco there is lush greenery and rolling hills which look impressive close up and from a long distance.

St. Mary’s Academy

Friday, March 19th, 2010

Does this picture look familiar to you? I guess not. This modern entrance arch is now the new face of St. Mary's Academy of Kidapawan, formerly Notre Dame of Kidapawan for Girls. I also have loads of photos inside the school grounds including the new classrooms and the gym.

Students who studied here a long time ago would be really amazed to see how their old school has improved. This is so different compared to the old building; which appears to have been knocked down:(.  The design of the new fence of the entrance and the gate is beautiful. I   this place.

Tabili – Philippine Gliding Lizard

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

Have you seen this sort of lizard before? My brother found this beautiful young animal near home. I heard that when this gliding lizard gets older; wing-like flaps of skin will start to grow from its abdomen. It's so peculiar:D

This might be a Draco Volans; a Philippine flying dragon but I'm not sure as I cannot find a picture that exactly matches it. :( The mixture of colours of its skin is fascinating.

Steaming Lake Agko

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

The resort that the locals and tourists are talking about is the steaming Lake Agko on Mt. Apo near Kidapawan. I haven't been there but I was so glad that I managed to get loads of photographs from a very good friend of mine, Ana Arne Galbo.

It's always nice to know that from Kidapawan you could actually travel from there easily to see this popular local destination. The views and various features of these attractions are beautifully landscaped; which means that it's likely that we will have more visitors coming in now and in the future to come. I think that this place is gorgeous:)

Milô In Manongol

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

I don’t know what this gorgeous animal is called in English. In Cebuano, we call it Milô. They live in the jungle in Mindanao. I think he’s really cute.

Forest Along The River

Friday, July 10th, 2009

There is a a large area of beautiful forest along the Saguing river, near Kidapawan. The ground is covered with trees and other plants. The park, which is popular with the locals, is very close to the Kidapawan landmark; a great feature to the city. I think that these views look marvellous.

Aren’t They Adorable?

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

Not long ago, these puppies were born at home. It didn’t take long before they were snapped up by friends, neighbours and relatives. I think that they look really sweet.

This is a selection of wall and floor ceramic tiles products from Eurotiles, Philippines that are samples on display for sale in the SMA Lumber & Construction Supply shop in Lanao, a barangay of Kidapawan. I’m so glad that we were able to visit the shop as I was interested in looking for some tiles for a small project at home. Whilst there we took some pictures to be able to look at them at home and to post them here so more people would know about this great shop. If you fancy some of these beautiful designs, you can always pick up the phone and ask for information. The shop is located in Lanao, Kidapawan City. Their telephone number is 278-3450.
