High school education in Mindanao

Sunday, November 5th, 2006

I found this website http://static.namesdatabase.com/PHNC.html which has extensive lists of schools around North Cotabato, Mindanao, Philippines. Bigger towns tend to have more private and public schools so people can choose where to study; it depends on their income. Out in the countryside schools are very different in that people have less choice as there are fewer schools.

It is common for wealthier families from smaller towns and villages to send their children to private schools in bigger towns. There are usually boarding houses available to these students within walking distance of the school. Most boarding house lodgers go home to see their families after school on Friday afternoons; of course they make sure that when they return on Sundays they have some pocket money for the rest of the week.
