Tabili – Philippine Gliding Lizard

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

Have you seen this sort of lizard before? My brother found this beautiful young animal near home. I heard that when this gliding lizard gets older; wing-like flaps of skin will start to grow from its abdomen. It's so peculiar:D

This might be a Draco Volans; a Philippine flying dragon but I'm not sure as I cannot find a picture that exactly matches it. :( The mixture of colours of its skin is fascinating.

Milô In Manongol

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

I don’t know what this gorgeous animal is called in English. In Cebuano, we call it Milô. They live in the jungle in Mindanao. I think he’s really cute.

Aren’t They Adorable?

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

Not long ago, these puppies were born at home. It didn’t take long before they were snapped up by friends, neighbours and relatives. I think that they look really sweet.

The latest pictures that I fancied for my blog are of these animals that I took in the park. I think that some of these creatures are really nice especially for children.

Birds That Can’t Fly

This bird looks enormous and they have stubby wings. If you thought that all birds fly then you will find this bird very strange. Ostriches are one of the few bird species that cannot fly, which also includes penguins, emus, rheas, kiwis, and the extinct dodo. It’s a shame that they can’t fly; flying looks like it must be fun.

In some parts of Mindanao it’s quite normal to see animals on the farmlands somewhere they feel comfortable to wander around and where there are trees and just green all around to keep them cool while relaxing. This beautiful cow is in Mateo near Kalasuyan, a barangay of Kidapawan.

I always wanted to take a picture of this attractive animal in the park, but each time I tried to capture him he moved away very quickly. Taking a snap of this Grevy’s Zebra is not easy as he moves around a lot when there are people watching. I think he’s gorgeous.

Dark Brown Bull

This bull is in Mateo, a small village near Kalasuyan, a barangay of Kidapawan. Many Filipinos have probably never seen a cow in the Philippines. I hope that this animal is comfortable and not feeling too warm. Most animals in Mindanao can be seen being left alone in the fields or farmlands to wander around during the day. In the evening they’re all kept in the stall.

Every time that we go to the park herons can be seen just loitering around. This time I captured him on top of the plants. He was there for a quite a while watching those little penguins making noises and people go by. I think he was curious what’s going on. It was a nice warm day and everyone was happy.
